The last time I visited this small and hard to reach state park, I could still drive it. Since the road washed out in 98, hiking in is the only access to this marvel of geography, a fog-bound place where the coast take a hard 90 degree turn out to sea for 3 or 4 miles. Rounding the corner and catching the view for the first time takes the breath away and takes one back to the California of 200 years ago.
